Dale Stewart, Executive Director
I LOVE my job! I love the fact that camp provides kids and adults with some of the best memories they will ever have. I love that I get to work with a variety of talented, creative, godly people. I love that we get to see lives being changed by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A life-long camper and volunteer staff member, I became paid staff in 1984, the first 14 years in a dual role as youth pastor of Christ Community Church of Zion and Camp Director. In 1998, the decision was made to separate the two positions, changing my role to full-time Executive Director. We moved here in 2000, and live in Gills Rock. I get to work with my wife Carol, and we have 3 grown kids, Greg, Andrew, & Rachel. Whenever I can, I love going for a long bike ride, and like all kinds of skiing.
Carol Stewart, Office Manager & Food Service Director
I first visited Camp Zion in the summer of 1978 when husband to be, Dale, invited me to see this magical place. Growing up in the hot, desert southwest of Arizona, a camp located in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan was quite a different experience! The beauty of the Door County area quickly became a favorite place to visit and later to call home.
I have grown to love the ministry of Camp Zion and have worked almost every staff position over the last 30 + years (I have never driven the bus or served as a lifeguard). My main roles are camper registrations and overseeing our Food Service. I enjoy interacting with parents through email or phone calls to make sure their camper gets the best experience possible.
Bill Schutte, Operations Manager
Bill Schutte joined us as Operations Manager on September 1, 2025. He is responsible for many of the day to day tasks at camp, including upkeep on the facilities. Bill lives in Jacksonport with his wife Donna.
I am happy to be here, and excited to be working with and for followers of Jesus Christ. I started my working life as summer camp staff at several Boy Scout camps. Since moving to Door County in 1999, I have had jobs in carpentry, maintenance, and as a handyman. I am a long time member of Door of Life Christian Church and am involved in broadcasting the service online. I have been coming to Camp Zion since 2017 with the DOL Men’s Retreat, and always feel the Lord’s presence here. I am here to serve, and with my past experience, it is my goal for all to be safe and comfortable at camp, while learning about having a personal relationship with Jesus.
Sheri Jesiel, Business Manager
In her role as Business Manager, Sheri has used her accounting/business admin degree and CPA certification to serve as an accountant and financial resource for camp for more than 20 years. Sheri works remotely, but is on site during one of our Sr. High summer camp sessions as a program director. "For me, working with camp is far more than just a job - it's a ministry to and with one of my favorite places anywhere. From attending as a camper throughout my school years to serving as a staff member ever since, camp has been the place where my life and relationship with Jesus have been most impacted. It's such a privilege to continue to serve camp not only as a volunteer staff but by using my skills and education to contribute to Camp Zion's success."
