New Year-Round Staff Member
After more than a year of discussions, we are excited to announce that Camp Zion’s year-round camp staff is growing! We will be hiring Matthew Gillmore as Operations Manager, beginning September 1, 2017.
For the past three summers, Matthew & Hannah (Muro) have been driving up from their home in Appleton, volunteering on camp departure days, helping us get the facilities clean and ready for the next group’s arrival. We have loved getting to know them, and appreciate their servant’s spirit, and love of Christian camping.
Feeling a call into Christian Camping, in June of 2017, Hannah & Matthew, inquired about joining the Camp Zion team. With a limited budget, we were not sure how to make the idea become a reality. The Gillmores offered to raise their own support. After spending time with Matthew to determine if the idea was feasible, and to be sure that he was a good fit for Camp Zion, the Camp Leadership Team and Christ Community Church Elder Board approved the hiring.
We are asking Matthew to raise 25% of his support every six months, something he is already working on. This is a big task, and is a new experience for both Camp Zion and the Gillmores.
In time, Matthew will take on more of the day to day operations of the camp. Executive Director Dale Stewart will eventually focus more on church and donor relations.
Matthew met his wife, Hannah (Muro) while on staff at Timber-lee Christian Camp. He has worked at several other Christian organizations, including CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ), Noah’s Ark Whitewater Rafting Company, and most recently at the VF Corporation in Appleton. We are excited about how God has brought the Gillmores to us, and look forward to working with them!
